 Job Description:
The Summer D.A.Y.S. Supervisor is responsible for the overall safety of all participants & staff. Is responsible to, plan, coordinate, conduct and supervise the activities and operations of the Summer D.A.Y.S. program. Provides leadership to all staff.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and assist in training of counselors.
  • Acts as a leader and mentor to counselors, providing them with guidance and opportunities to grow.
  • Researches, schedules and conducts field trips, bus transportation.
  • Establishes activities.
  • Communicates with parents and deals with parental concerns.
  • Interacts and engages participants in activities as required
  • Manages inventory of supplies.
  • Manages disciplinary issues.
  • Evaluates program and staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years old and have two years of experience working with children, preferably in a program setting.
  • Previous experience in a responsible leadership position preferred.
  • Ability to establish an effective work relationship with parents, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records regarding participant’s statistics and attendance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in summer heat.
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups, and provide necessary instruction to participants and staff.
  • Ability to observe participant and counselor behavior, assesses for appropriateness, and ensures corrections are made if needed.
  • Uphold all policies and procedures established by the Parks & Recreation Department.
 
Certification Requirements:
  • Possess a Massachusetts Class D driver’s license or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid & Epi Pen Certified (provided by Rec Dept. if needed)
  • Concussion training certified
  • Must pass a C.O.R.I. (Criminal Offender Record Information) check

  1. Program Coordinator
  2. Recreation Director
 
Supervises:
  1. Summer D.A.Y.S. Head Counselor
  2. Summer D.A.Y.S. Counselors
